There is no excuse for not having quality on page search engine optimization. The basics are well tested and known, and while it’s not as effective as it used to be on page SEO is still the foundation of a good website.

• Keyword Optimization – Make sure your main keywords are in your title tags, heading (h1, h2, etc) tags and your Meta keyword and description tags. In your content you should make sure it is always readable but aim for around 1% keyword density. Also make use of LSI (latent semantic indexing) keywords and synonyms.
• Images – Images are an important part of any webpage and can provide a great SEO boost. Make sure you are using the alt and title properties in the img tag. Also ensure your file names are “SEO friendly”. You can get valuable traffic from Google image search as well as the regular search.
• Links – Links on your own pages will help Google figure out what your website is about. Make sure you are linking throughout your website using SEO rich keywords as the backlinks. Don’t just use “home” but use your main keywords.

You can quickly get 100’s of very valuable “in content” backlinks to your website. Google thinks very highly of links like this. The only downside is it can be a time consuming process to keep writing articles and submitting them.

Profile Backlinks

This is a method of getting many backlinks from highly respected websites for free. Individually these backlinks are not massively effective but they can be created in large batches for a powerful effect.

If websites have forums, or any sort of user registration features then you can setup user accounts with links n your profile. Most of the time these links are found by Google and help your site rank. This sort of backlink can easily be outsourced or automated.

Trusted Site Backlinks

These are the holy grail of backlinks. Usually you need to pay or negotiate a link on popular high PR websites but sometimes you can get them for free. Some trusted sites include:

• .Gov or .Edu Links – Sometimes you can find blog comments or profile backlinks from these types of sites and they are valued highly.
• Premium Directories – Directories are a popular method of backlinks but usually not very powerful. Some directories are valued by the search engines however. Try dmoz.org or Yahoo! Directories.
• High Quality Sites – Such as Wikipedia or niche related authority sites are fantastic sources of link juice but very difficult to get!

Link Baiting, Viral Marketing and Social Media

These are all separate but related search engine optimization tips. The basic idea is very simple, people like good content and they like it free! Now perhaps that’s a no brainer but it’s amazing how many marketers are missing out on this plentiful traffic source. Some examples of this would be:

• Link Baiting – You create a long, well researched, but (most importantly) controversial article about the best methods of dog training, perhaps discussing a technique that people have string opinions about and post it to your website. Then you need to seed it to some related forums or blogs and watch it take off. People love to debate and will happily link to your article while they discuss it. Not only to you get loads of free backlinks but you also get real people visiting your website directly.
• Social Media Tips – Marketing with social media can be complex and take a lot of time but for creating a bunch of fans who will promote your website for free there is nothing better. Make sure you re signed up for facebook, twitter, linkedin, dig and many niche forums or blogs. Contribute good, free, content and people will reciprocate back to you.
• Viral Marketing Tips – Is the perfect combination of both link bait and social media and the result is best shown in a site like YouTube. Some crazy videos have has millions of views, been spoofed and copied and distributed worldwide. It doesn’t only need to be videos however, try giving away free eBooks or software with your websites link inside. You can even ask people to promote your eBook on the promise of more exclusive content if they send it to 10 more people.

I’d be irresponsible to talk about article spinning without talking about the downsides. The main one is that you need to use high quality input articles and spend some time with your rewrites to make sure you get high quality articles out. As the old saying goes, rubbish in, rubbish out! The second point is to highlight the fact that article spinning is primarily for building backlinks, it’s an effective method for building high quality and content rich backlinks but you are very unlikely to get visitors to your articles directly.

Neither of those points are a downside to the application but they are important points to remember when dealing with article marketing. Rapid Rewriter is a tool first and foremost, make sure you use it effectively and it will help speed up your results.

So, is this a 5* product or a straight to recycle bin special? There are some downsides that may or may not affect you. The first is that this product tries to cover every part of eBay. This means that there is a long introduction via the beginners videos that some more advanced users may find too simple, although there are some great tips for everyone. This great for newbies and will certainly get anyone up and running on eBay no matter their experience levels. The second issue I noticed was that the lessons are essentially unstructured. That doesn’t bother some people but I do prefer to be guided. Perhaps a step-by-step action plan would be great to help people focus on the specific tasks required to start a business.

I believe I have covered everything in this Sky High Auction review and I can say with certainty that this is one of the best eBay products I’ve seen in a long time. The PPC marketplace is constantly changing, new rules are put in place or new technologies are developed almost daily. It’s a vitally important that you are willing to re-evaluate your strategy at any time. Constantly learn for other marketers and make sure your on the cutting edge – that is where the real profits are made!

The Numbers Never Lie

All successfull PPC marketers needs to know their statistics well. Small changes in click through ratio, or earnings per click and click cost can lose you cash quickly. Evaluate your costs, is a 2% conversion rate at $0.50 per click a good deal on a $10 product sale?

Always use the numbers, don’t just “think” somethings better but make sure you test it and look at the numbers. Sometmes you’ll be suprised as the ugly, basic landing page results in a better CTR.

Watch Your Budget

Start low and work up. You can burn a lot of money very quickly on high volume keywords, having a small daily budget will let you test a campaing without a huge amount of risk.

Another important point is that 10 days of $10/day is much more accurate data than 1 day of $100/day. Your campaing can convert differently depending on the time and day.

Laser Target Your Landing Pages

Sure this is more work than some people might like, but it works wonders! Never send your visitors to your home page! First create a PPC focused page, this sort of page should have less options than your homepage and be designed to make your visitor take a specific action.

Secondly you need to target the landing page towards the keywords. It’s no point sending eveyone to the same PPC page. If you are promoting gardening equipment then send lawn mower keywords to the lawn mower PPC page and send fence paining keywords to a fence painting PPC page and so on.

Always Split Test Your Ads

The bottom line is you can always be improving your ads click through ratio (CTR). Have 2-3 different ads setup for each ad group or campaign and evaluate each ad after a specific amount of impressions or time. Cut the non-performing ads and make new variations to test.

Multiple ads can also be very beneficial at combatting “ad blindness”. Perhaps a prospect has seen your ad and is not interested but a few days later is shown a different ad and is intrigued. Had you stuck with only 1 ad you may have never got this visitor.

Capture the Long Tail Keywords

You may be tempted to only choose 1 or 2 word keywords that get the majority of the traffic. But this can be a very expensive and unproductive mistake! This is a vital PPC tip.

Think about “Make Money” as a keyword, you are sure to get plenty of traffic with this keyword but it may not convert into sales at all. Just think about all the combinations of that keyword, “make money selling my old sofa” or “make money in world of warcraft” or “how do banks make money”. Clearly we don’t want those people because they are not interested in that we are selling at all.

So we need to target “long tail” keywords, typically they are 3 or more words long but very targetted to what we want to sell. These are specific questons about problems that our product can solve. An example would be “Make money using clickbank”, now we have a much more targeted visitor who we can sell a product about clickbank marketing to.

You can easily create these long tail keyowrds by adding common “targeted” words to your main keywords. Such as “buy”, “review”, author names or product names or even states and cities.

Use Negative Keywords

This is a powerful way for stopping your ad being shown to undesirable visitors. Typical negative keywords can be “warez”, “torrents” or “download” to filter out freebie seekers. Or perhaps “training”, “information” or “help” to filter out information seekers.

There’s a wealth of pay per click tips on the internet and sometimes it can seem overwhelming. However if you stick to the basics and optimise your keywords, budget, ads and landing pages then you will no doubt have increased success.

• Never trust “broad match” results if you are researching for SEO! If you are looking for keywords for articles or for an SEO site then breaod match can be very misleading. Always look at “phrase match” or [exact match] to get a better idea.
• Only the top 10 results count. You could find a great keyword with 1000′s of searches and very few results in the search engines, sounds a goldmine right? Not if the top 10 results are heavily optimised. Always look at the quality of the top 10 websites.
